So you want to make your own web site? Well follow these instructions and before you know it you too can have a site to be roud of ;¬)What you need first is an idea.....got one? Then we'll begin

I use 3 packages from Macromedia(www.macromedia.com) which allow me to create all I need for this site. I will introduce these packages and what I use them for.

DREAMWEAVER - This is the HTML (hypertext markup language) editor. This program allows the insertion of images, text, and other web compatible media. Using Tables and Layers you can position all of your content to exactly where you want it on each of your web pages.

FIREWORKS - This is the image editor. this program is what was used to create every image on this site. Whether the image was borrowed or made from scratch, Fireworks allows you to create lavish graphics specific for web usage.

FLASH 4 - This program is what is used to create all of the moving images. This program takes a while to learn how to use, but works on the basic principals of animation. Follow these links for some more info on Flash. I suggest downloadiung it from macromedia and then going to FlashKit for some "Source files". These files are already finished by other designers and all you do is edit them. I prefer to make my own !! :¬

Now..Youve created your web pages and you need somewhere to store them and you also need a name so that people can find your pages.

Your DOMAIN NAME is what you use to locate your pages on the internet, domains can be free..ie www.johnsmith.freeserve.co.uk or you can pay for them...i.e www.chillibomb.com.Use the search function below to search for your own unique domain name.

You'll need WEBSPACE next. Like all things in life this can be FREE or you can pay for it. I wil separate these next bits for those who want it free or those who want to pay!!

PAY - Goto Virtual Internet who will take care of it all for you. Once you have a domain name and your webspace, you can then upload your pages(see FTP below). done.

FREE - You can use any one of the following links. All of them provide free hosting.

Geocities - freesites - moonfruit - yahoo - freeserve - freenetname

UPLOADING - To move the pages from your computer at home up onto your new webspace you will need an FTP program (File transfer Protocol).

I suggest using Cute FTP. It is very easy to use, you just drag the files you want to upload into your web directory and Bobs your uncle! Done.

The END. ?
